PNE FAIR FAQ

The Fair uses cashless procedures on site for PNE Food & Beverage, Bars and Games. We accept PNE gift cards, credit/debit and recommend that you use your tap enabled cards or Apple Pay/Google Pay on your mobile device. You can pick up a gift card at the gift card booth located near the climbing wall in Playland, or the Guest Services booth located near the Forum Marketplace. These cards can be loaded with cash.

Accessibility / Access 2 Program

The Fair is proud to partner with the “Access 2 Program”. We simply ask that you show your Access 2 Card at the ticketing booth, indicating that you require a support person. Guests can purchase a gate pass which allows an accompanying support person to receive a complimentary gate entrance admission.

Gate admission does not include a ride pass. Each guests who wishes to participate in the rides during fair requires their own purchased ticket.
For guests wishing to use their Access 2 card for complimentary ride access, please visit the PNE during Playland or Fright Nights when rides are included with admission.

Accessible washrooms are available throughout the Fair grounds and its buildings. Playland’s accessible washroom is located under the games line beside I Scream, U Scream (Ice Cream).

ATMs

The PNE uses cashless procedures on site for all retail, games, and food/beverage outlets. We accept credit/debit and recommend that you use your tap enabled cards or Apple Pay/Google Pay on your mobile device. PNE Gift Cards can also be purchased for use and are sold at the gift card booth located near the climbing wall in Playland, or the Guest Services booth located near the Forum Marketplace. Cash will be the only means of payment for the Casino Wheels games. There is an ATM near the two Casino Wheels Games located in the Revel District and Playland.

Breastfeeding/Infant Feeding

The PNE is an inclusive event and guests are welcome to breastfeed anywhere convenient within our public spaces, but if you would prefer a dedicated space, one can be found in Playland, at KidsPlayce.

The space in KidsPlayce, sponsored by Interac, has covered seating with priority for breastfeeding parents.

Cameras

Cameras and/or video cameras are permitted on site, but strictly prohibited on rides. Selfie sticks and drones are not permitted on site. Playland requires that all photographs or videos taken by guests be used for their personal enjoyment ONLY.

Cannabis Policy

Guests are not permitted to bring or consume substances that cause intoxication or impairment into The Fair – including alcohol and cannabis. Exceptions will be made for medical cannabis (with appropriate documentation) or other prescription medications. Individuals who have recreational cannabis on their person are encouraged to secure it in their vehicle. Smoking cannabis is prohibited.  The Fair assumes no liability for any lost or stolen items.

Child Admission/Ride Prices

The PNE offers discounted gate admission for children 4-12 years old at a rate of $7 in advance ($9 day of/onsite) and admission is FREE for kids 3 and under during the Fair. Kids 3 and under ride for free. For any rides that require a parent to safely ride, the parent/guardian MUST have a ride pass or coupon.

Ride passes are not included in gate admission.

Credit and Debit Cards

Credit and Debit Cards are accepted for admission and food. We accept the following credit cards: Visa, MasterCard and American Express. PNE Food & Beverage, and Games also accept PNE Gift Cards (sold at the gift card booth located near the climbing wall in Playland or the Guest Services booth located near the Forum Marketplace).

Code of Conduct

Please be considerate of other guests. Line jumping, unruly behaviour or profanity will not be tolerated. Offenders will be ejected without a refund. Observe all warnings and rules, instructions and smoking regulations where posted.

Guests who demonstrate inappropriate and disruptive behavior, including the following, are subject to removal from the premises:

  • Excessive consumption of alcohol
  • Possession of any weapon or any type of object that could be used as a weapon
  • Possession of any illegal drugs
  • Bringing alcoholic beverages onto PNE property
  • Obscene, offensive or abusive language or actions
  • Fighting, taunting, or threatening remarks or gestures
  • Dangerous, abusive, profane or illegal behavior
  • Unruly or inconsiderate behavior
  • Indecent exposure or undressing
  • Wearing obscene or indecent clothing
  • Smoking in a non-designated smoking area
  • Interfering with security procedures
  • Interfering with the progress of any event or attraction
  • Selling tickets or other merchandise on PNE property without prior approval
  • Handing out goods or literature not pre-approved by Playland
  • Possession of any Items or any other conduct that is beyond the bounds of reasonable behavior for guests attending a family oriented event

Dress for your day

The Fair is a casual, family-oriented environment. We suggest you dress comfortably, wear good walking shoes and check the local weather report before you leave for The Fair. It is an important part of the Fair experience that the park is family-friendly. In that spirit, we ask you to use your discretion and common sense regarding your attire in The Fair. Attire that is not appropriate for The Fair (and which may result in refusal of admittance) includes, but is not limited to: Clothing generally considered offensive or clothing with inappropriate words, phrases and/or graphics or clothing not conducive to a family environment. Guests wearing a bikini, and or open back tops will not be allowed access to rides. For your safety, shirts and shoes must be worn at all times, including entering and leaving The Fair.  Some rides will not allow guests wearing flip flops.  Guests wearing shoes not secured to their feet, with covered toes may not be able to ride certain rides.

Entertainment

The Fair offers a variety of shows daily throughout the park. We feature high energy resident shows, strolling performers, community performers, life-sized characters and top-name entertainment. All shows, except the Summer Night Concerts, are FREE with your regular paid admission to the Fair. Seating is offered on a first-come-first-serve basis.  Limited seating and standing spaces are available.  Accessible seating is available on a first-come-first-serve basis and spacing is limited.

The PNE offers family style washrooms with changing tables in various locations throughout the site.

First Aid

The First Aid station is located at the North East side of Playland, and inside the Pacific Coliseum. Should you require First-Aid assistance, please contact any PNE security personnel.

Treat your tastebuds! Take a food adventure or stick to the traditional favourites, like candy floss, candy apples and, of course, mini donuts!

Outside food and beverage is NOT permitted, including gum.

Gate Admission

The Fair’s one-price admission plan entitles you to enjoy a variety of shows, exhibits, and attractions. Rides and Summer Night Concerts are NOT included with gate admission. We recommend that gate admission is booked in advance at TicketLeader. We also recommend purchasing Ride Passes in advance, as quantities are limited and are likely to sell out.

Guide Dogs / Service Dogs / Pets

Animals are not permitted at the PNE (Playland, Fair or other ticketed events and shows)  with the exception of Service Animals. Please have documentation available.Guide dogs and service dogs (as well as puppies-in-training carrying BC Government Identification) are welcome in all public areas during the Fair.  Accepted certification includes Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS), BC & Alberta Guide Dog Services, Vancouver Island Compassion Dogs,  Assistance Dogs International, or the International Guide Dog Federation.  For more information on these accredited schools click here. The guide or service dog must remain on a leash or harness and/or under the control of their handler at all times.

Lost and Found

If you have lost an item, please visit our Lost & Found station in the PNE Forum. If you have already left the PNE grounds, fill out a lost and found case using the online form click here. 

Every attempt will be made to locate the lost item and you will be contacted only if the item is found.  Often items are only found after closing hours.  While we do all that we can to reunite you with your item, we are not able to stop rides, or close areas to search or retrieve.   Due to the volume of lost and found items, it may take a few days to connect items and contact guests.  The PNE does not reimburse patrons for lost or stolen items. 

We are unable to retrieve any items lost on a ride.

Note: all lost & found or checked items will be destroyed or donated if unclaimed after 14 days.

Lost Person

If an individual becomes separated from your group contact the nearest PNE staff member, security officer or visit any Guest Service Centre for immediate assistance. All lost guests found will be escorted to Playland Guest services where they will be comforted until they have been reunited with their guardians. 

The PNE Fair does not offer in-park paging. Please be sure to have a specific meeting place for your group. 

The PNE has partnered with BCAA to provide the Lost Child Tagging Program to facilitate the locating and reuniting of lost ones. Visit any Guest Service Centre for more information on this great service!

Outside Food and Beverage

Outside food and beverage is not permitted (with the exception of specialty foods for those with medical reasons). Coolers and BBQ are also not permitted.

Parking and Transportation

Parking lots are located at the corner of Hastings and Windermere Streets, as well as lots accessible from Gate 6 off North Renfrew Street, and Gate 9 off Bridgeway Street.

Parking is $25.

Transit is also a great option with frequent bus service on Hastings Street, and easy access to Renfrew Skytrain Station via the #16 Bus. For more information about getting to the PNE Fairgrounds via transit, including fares and schedules, please visit www.translink.ca or call 604-953-3333.

The Bike Valet will not be available this  year, however bike racks are available outside the gates.

Prohibited Items

The Fair reserves the right to inspect bags and purses upon request. 

The following items are not permitted on the Fair grounds: 

  • Pets (Service Animals are permitted and must be wearing an identifying assistive-companion vest from a recognized British Columbia approved service animal association) 
  • Skateboards, scooters (motorized and non-motorized), inline skates, shoes with built-in wheels, bicycles, motorcycles, tricycles, unicycles, pogo sticks, two-wheeled vehicles, including bicycles and Segway™ Human Transporters 
  • Strollers larger than 36×52″ 
  • Suitcases, backpacks or similar bags with wheels 
  • BBQs 
  • Coolers 
  • Guests are not permitted to bring substances that cause intoxication or impairment into The Fair – including alcohol and cannabis. Exceptions will be made for medical cannabis (with appropriate documentation) or other prescription medications. Individuals who have recreational cannabis on their person are encouraged to secure it in their vehicle. Smoking cannabis is prohibited.  The Fair assumes no liability for any lost or stolen items.
  • Folding chairs, with the exception of cane-chair and seat-walker mobility aids
  • Glass containers, with the exception of baby food containers, or medicine or small perfume bottles (under 4 oz) 
  • Water pistols, toy guns and replica weapons, with the exception of those sold in the Fair 
  • Sporting goods or equipment (e.g., baseball bats, helmets, hockey sticks, golf clubs, bows and arrows, camping equipment, chairs, stools, tables, Frisbees) 
  • Weapons of any kind (including guns; knives; billy clubs; brass knuckles; and num-chuks, stars and other martial arts equipment) 
  • Self-defense equipment (pepper spray, mace, stun guns) 
  • Restraining devices (e.g., handcuffs, zip ties) or any suspicious items (e.g., box cutters, razor blades, duct tape, wire) 
  • Items that may be disruptive (e.g. laser pointer, slingshot, stink bomb, air horns) 
  • Miscellaneous other items (tools, fire extinguishers, musical instruments, megaphones, pots and pans) 
  • Professional cameras and recording equipment. Large lenses, full photoshoots, large tripods or reflector screens are not permitted. (Reporters must make prior arrangements with PNE Media Relation). Folding tripod stands that can fit inside a standard backpack are permitted.

Re-Entry

Ins-and-outs are permitted for the date of your purchased Fair ticket. Get your hand stamped before exiting.

Restrooms

Restrooms are located throughout the fairgrounds in the following locations: Marketplace, Revel District, Livestock Barns, under the Westcoast Wheel outside Playland, PNE Amphitheatre, Playland Midway (next to I Scream, U Scream
(Ice Cream)), across from the Merry-Go-Round in Kids Playce, Rollerland, Agrodome, Centre grounds and behind Playland’s Triple O’s restaurant. Accessible restrooms are available throughout the Fair grounds and its buildings. Playland’s accessible restroom is located under the games line beside I Scream, U Scream (Ice Cream). In Playland, the gender neutral washroom is located in the middle of Kids Playce next to Cheese Please.

Rides & Attractions Restriction

All rides / attractions have height and age restrictions to ensure guest safety. These restrictions and advisories are listed at individual rides and/or attractions or check rides online here.

Rides Passes

Kids 3 and under ride for free. For any rides that require a parent to safely ride, the parent/guardian MUST have a ride pass or coupon.

The Fun ride pass $41.00 (advance) $46.00 (day-of) includes access to the following rides: Balloon Explorers, Bug Whirled, Cap’n KC, Choppers, Climbing wall, Cool Cruzers, Dizzy Drop, The Flutterbye, Gladiator, Glass House, Honeybee Express, Kettle Creek Mine Coaster, Merry-Go-Round, Rock-n-Cars, Scrambler, Sea to Sky Swinger, Super Slide, Sweet Escape Mini Golf, Teacups, Westcoast Wheel.

The Thrill ride pass $54.00 (advance) $59.00 (day-of) includes the list above, plus these additional rides: Atmosfear, The Beast, Breakdance, Cedar Rapids Log Flume, Enterprise, The Pirate Ship, Hellevator, Hell’s Gate, Skybender, ThunderVolt, and all the Fun Pass rides as well.

Rapid Pass can be purchased onsite alongside a Thrill ride pass to skip the line at the following rides: Atmosfear, Beast, Breakdance, Flume, Hellevator, Pirate Ship, Sea-to-Sky Swinger and Skybender. 

Individual Ride Coupons are available onsite only, while supplies last.

Rentals: Wheelchairs & Lockers

For your convenience, wheelchair and stroller rentals are available in KC’s Shoppe in Playland or at the Guest Services booth outside of the Forum, on a first-come, first-serve basis at the rate of $10 per day ($50 refundable deposit & signed rental contract required).

Lockers are available at the Playland entrance for: $12-15 per day ($15 deposit).

Smoking & Vaping

The PNE Fair is a smoke-free environment. As a courtesy to our guests, The Fair provides two smoking / vaping areas on site.   The designated smoking /vaping areas are at the North West corner of the Revel District and the West end of the Flume ride in Playland, near the Hellevator in Playland.  Guests are not permitted to bring substances that cause intoxication or impairment into the Fair or Playland – including alcohol and cannabis. Exceptions will be made for medical cannabis (with appropriate documentation) or other prescription medications. Individuals who have recreational cannabis on their person are encouraged to secure it in their vehicle. Smoking cannabis is prohibited.

Ticketing Fees - Service & Facility Fees

All tickets purchased include a facility fee and a service fee. Below is a brief breakdown of what these fees cover.

Facility fee: this fee will cover the expenses for the venue where you will be enjoying your event.

Service and processing fees: These cover the cost associated with selling the tickets, whether online, over the phone or at the box office. i.e. staff involved with prepping and maintaining our websites for purchases online, answering phones, emails, managing aspects of the box office on the day of the show as well as the brick-and-mortar expenses.

Service and processing fees are charged on each order and ticket. These fees vary by event based on our agreement with each individual client.

Strollers & Wheelchair Accessibility

Most of our attractions are wheelchair and stroller accessible. Parents—please note that due to limited space, in some attractions and shows we may ask you to check your strollers/wagons at entrances or exits of certain exhibits.

Ticket Resolution

Fair passes can be upgraded. You can upgrade to any type of ticket – provided the new ticket is of equal or greater value than the old ticket – by simply paying the difference, except from ride coupon to ride passes. No refund will be issued if the new ticket is of lesser value.

Unaccompanied Minors

Playland / PNE does not provide any child minding supervision.  Guests are strongly recommended not to leave children unattended. Children 12 years and under must be accompanied by paying adult or guardian at all times.

Weather

To ensure the safety of our guests during inclement weather such as extreme heat, high winds, severe rain or lightning in the park vicinity, individual rides or the entire park may be closed. Affected rides may be reopened if deemed safe. The Fair does not issue rain cheques or refunds for park closures.
To provide the Fair Guests with the highest quality experience, ride/attraction closure due maintenance is occasionally necessary.
